Hamilton is one of the premier Rugby clubs in the Newcastle-Hunter Rugby Union. Founded in 1966 with just two junior teams, the club now supports five senior grades, a women’s team as well as junior teams. The club also actively sponsors the development of rugby programs in primary schools in the district. The Hawks are based at Wickham Park off Albert Street. The park includes two full sized fields (Passmore & Hawkins), a third junior’s field, grandstand, hills, majestic fig trees and plenty of car-parking.

Passmore Oval is in urgent need of an upgrade to the grandstand and other facilities. Passmore Oval is used by a variety of other community and sporting groups, in addition to the Hamilton Hawks. An upgrade to the facility will benefit a significant number of stakeholders, not just the Rugby Club.

We are very grateful to Council for their advice and for their support as well as the State Government in seeing the Passmore Oval project come to fruition. A collaboration between City of Newcastle and our Club, which successfully applied for $1 million from the NSW Government under the Greater Cities Sport Facility Fund, Stage I is planned to be completed before the end of 2023. The $2.35 million project includes dedicated, purpose-built female dressing sheds, accessible toilets on 2 levels and community rooms on the upper levels with viewing decks over both Passmore and Hawkins Ovals.

We need assistance from our Hamilton Rugby community to raise additional funds to complete the build. Our major contribution to the development is fitting out the community room and gym space. All donations to the fund are tax deductible, and all money raised goes towards the construction of the facility. Donate before EOFY!

If you would love to donate at a higher level, we have Blue and Gold Brick Donor Opportunities starting at $10k, followed by $5k, $2.5K, $1k, and $500. You will get a Foundation Membership pin, a Blue & Gold Foundation cap, and a plaque on the Foundation Members wall at Passmore Club Rooms as a token of our appreciation.
